The subject of health insurance is on everyone's minds as we have almost 50 million people without medical insurance today. Our government is focused on providing health insurance to everyone, but cannot agree as to how to go about this, or how it will be financed. Meanwhile, the 50 million people remain uninsured and are not receiving the medical attention that many desperately need. Many have applied for coverage but upon receiving health insurance quotes, they realize that they cannot possibly afford this for themselves or their families.American families are going without the medications that they require to maintain their health, operations are being postponed, doctor visits are being missed and medical tests are being skipped. There individuals are just waiting for the day that they will be able to afford medical insurance, so they can once again take care of their own health, as well as the health of their families. Families on small budget are coming forward an letting us know that they have been in a situation where they needed to decide between food or medication, others are cutting their medication doses in half so that they last longer, and others are not taking their needed medication at all.Although there are drug programs in place to help the poor, many people still do not qualify. The goal is to provide insurance for everyone, but we must do it properly and offer plans that everyone can afford, while still providing the coverage that is necessary. Cheap insurance sounds like a great solution until you find out what it does not make available to the insured.Florida health insurance plans have devised a system that is providing family health insurance to all of those previously uninsured and to the recently unemployed. The Governor of Florida formed a plan with the six major insurers in the state and has successfully removed over 3 million people from the list of those without health insurance. This is quite an accomplishment and we can only hope that our federal government will be able to successfully provide health insurance to all and that they can do it in the very near future.We, as residents of the United States of America, need to make our voices heard! If we want a change we need to contact our local representatives, inform them that health insurance for all is our number one goal for the country, and that they must do whatever it takes to provide it for the millions in our country who go without medical coverage. Let them know that it will be reflected in the next vote, if this is not accomplished, after all we are the ones that elect them to make a difference, and there will be no excuse that is acceptable.
